Traffic Backed Up For Six Miles On Maryland Bridge During Afternoon Commute

Traffic was backed up for miles on US-15 in Frederick County during the afternoon commute, leading to lengthy delays for motorists in both directions.

An alert was issued by the Metropolitan Area Transportation Operations Coordination Program (MATOC) at around 3:45 p.m. on April 25, where there was a reported multi-vehicle crash on the Point Rocks Bridge. 

Northbound lanes were blocked, leading to delays approaching six miles, while the southbound lanes were reportedly delayed approximately one mile. 

Shorty before 4:45 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, officials said that all travel lanes had reopened, though there were residual delays in both directions tying up traffic.

Details about the crash were not initially provided.
